Do you know that you can make a conference call with your iPhone? Yes, your iPhone permits you to call up to five people at once, making it easy to set up a quick conference call. The process is even easy.
How to Add Participants to a Conference Call
To start your conference call, call one of the participants from the Dialer app. Tell the person that you want to add more people to the call. This will help the person to keep waiting.
On your iPhone, while still on the call, click the “Add Call” button. This will place the first call on hold while you place the second call. Dial the second person’s number or choose it from your contacts.
Once the second person answers the call, the first call is still on hold, and the second call is active below it. If you have the names of the people in your contacts, their names will be displayed here. Otherwise, you’ll just see their phone numbers. Now you will just click on the “Merge Calls” button. You already have your conference call.
To add more participants, use the same process as used above. After adding all the participants, click on ‘’Merge Calls’’. That’s all. For iPhones, you can only add 5 persons at a call. However, if you want to add more participants, go for an advanced conference calling system.
However, if you get an incoming call while you’re on a conference call, click the “Hold & Accept” button. It will place the conference call on hold and you’ll answer the person. After you tap this button, you can tap “Merge Calls” to merge the person who called your phone number into the existing call, just as if you had called them.
Be very careful not to click “End & Accept”, if you do, it will end your current call and disconnect all people on the conference call, and accept the new call. To avoid talking to the person immediately, tap “Send to Voicemail”.
How to Remove Participants and Talk Privately
Even when you are still on the conference call, click the blue “i” button at the top right corner of the screen to view a list of the participants in the call. Now, to remove a participant from the call, tap the “End” button. Your phone will hang upon them.
Further, if you want to talk privately with someone, click the “Private” button. The other participants will be placed on hold and you’ll be able to talk privately with the person you chose. Click “Merge Calls” to continue speaking with all of them together. This option only works on some cellular networks but not on iPhone.
Other iPhone Conference Call Tricks
There are other tricks you can pull. They include muting yourself and others. To mute yourself during the call, click the “Mute” button. You can hear other people on the conference call, but they won’t hear you unless you tap the “Mute” button again to unmute yourself. It is best to use speaker mode–tap “Speaker” to enable speaker mode.
Also, you can leave the call screen and use other apps on your phone while on the call. Once your speaker mode on, click the “Home” button on your iPhone. You’re free to use other apps. You’ll see a green “Touch return to call” bar on the top of your screen; tap it to return to the call screen.
Whenever you finish the call, remove participants one by one from the participants’ screen with the “End” button, or hang up on everybody all at once by tapping the normal red “Hang Up” button at the bottom of the call screen.
Am sure you have learned something new today. You can go ahead and practice this now. Keep your questions in the comment section.
